Anyone who reads my blogs on a regular basis sees that I offer good quality generic replacement belts, bearings etc for a wide range of agricultural/horticultural/industrial machinery.
Recently I have been asked to quote for and supply belts to suit Claas machinery and have been rewarded with a number of orders in doing so. My latest orders were for CLAAS 644209 and 667957 and I was able to offer the customer a number of different manufacturers at different prices.
What too many people are unaware of is the fact that most OEM's do not make the products that they sell but because they commission the manufacturer to make large quantities of these parts, they subsequently have their own unique part number stamped on the belt. This ensures that you the customer has to go back to the main dealer to purchase replacements. Equally crafty is the way that a standard belt/bearing etc is made slightly different so that it is unique from similar other parts in the market place. Now this is where they tend to have you by the proverbials.
